Frequently asked questions

Capturing Lifetime Memories Beautifully

Congratulations on your Engagement and upcoming Wedding.
Thank you for your interest in our Wedding Services. I hope this information will help answer some of your questions about us.
Doug Rogahn is a full time professional shooting weddings since 1981. I own my studio based out of our home.
I offer Photography and Videography. You may have us do one or the other.
Our packages offer high quality and value for the price. Our customers have told us our packages are priced less with better quality than other studios. Shopping by price only will not give you the best value. The questions below may help in choosing your Photographer / Videographer.

  1. How long have you been in Business? Who actually comes to photograph our Wedding?
I have been shooting Weddings since 1981, in business since 1986 and have been at our current location since 1987, doing mostly weddings ( aprox. 40 per year)
Doug Rogahn will photograph your wedding. I do not hire additional photographers. Make sure you know who will be at your wedding, see their work and know how much experience they have.

  2. What type of photo paper do you use?
We print our digital images with the latest Epson printers using 100 year - pigmented ink (not dye based, like most printers) and Epson archival paper. These digital prints have been lab tested to outlast traditional photos.

  3. Do we get to keep the Proofs?
You keep the Proofs with all of our Wedding Packages. You will receive
100 - 250 4" x 6" prints in a beautiful bound leather or cloth album. Number of proofs you receive depends largely on your wedding party size and the amount of coverage you select.

  4. Will my proofs fade?
Your proofs are permanent prints -- the same quality as reprints. They will not fade.

  5. What is my wedding album like?
I use only top quality albums. The albums are available in a variety of colors and styles. You can choose to have all 8" x 10" prints, or you may have mixed sizes in your album, including 8" x 10", 5" x 7" and 4" x 5" prints.

  6. What camera format do you use?
I shoot weddings only on professional digital cameras. Digital allows us to do more creative things with photographs in the lab such as: brush strokes, embossing, canvas prints, selective color highlight in black and white.

  7. Do you bring backup photo and or video equipment?
I bring backup cameras, lenses, flash, flash cables, batteries and anything that if failed would stop us from completing our job.

  8. How long does it take to get our pictures?
Your wedding proofs will take 1 to 2 weeks and your wedding order will take 6 to 8 weeks but may vary slightly depending on the season.

  9. Who does your Print Processing?
Prints are custom printed in our own lab, to obtain the best possible printing results. Custom printing our own work also allows us to crop, position or do special effects prints to your request.

  10. Can we get a DVD of our video?
Yes, we can transfer your video to DVD. We also add chapter points, for quick access to the important moments of your wedding. DVD gives twice the resolution, less noise and does not degrade with use like VHS tape.

  11. What type of Video Cameras do you use?
I now use the latest in Digital Camcorders and Digital Editing technology, using Sony Professional 3-chip Digital Camcorders and Digital VCR to edit your video. With this equipment, we can capture breathtaking video and CD quality sound. We use 2 or 3 video cameras for ceremony, then use digital editing, to capture video memories that you will always treasure.

  12. Won't my uncle's video look just as good?
Only an experienced pro with quality equipment will be able to capture your day beautifully. Don't trust your once in a lifetime day to a once-in-a-while videographer. You will never be able to do a second take.

  13. We have looked at videos that don't sound good. How do you capture sound?
Your Wedding Video sound is recorded and edited with digital quality, and will be in Hi Fi Stereo on your Edited Video. At the ceremony we record the vows with a wireless microphone on the groom. We also place a wireless with reader, soloist and instrumentalist to capture great sound at any wedding location. At the reception we use a hand held wireless microphone for interviews of Wedding Party and Guests. For dance coverage we set up a special 2 microphone setup for great stereo DJ or Band coverage.

  14. What is your most popular Wedding Package?
    Our most popular Package is
    Photo Coverage Package # 4 with purchase of a 36 8 x 10 bridal album.

  15. What is a Video Reflection?
Taking your childhood, growing up, teenage and dating photos, along with your choice of music, we transfer them to video. We then show this at your Wedding reception with top of line equipment on a large screen and 200 watt sound system. See our
Video Reflection brochure for more details.

I hope we have answered some of your questions. Please feel free to call us with the rest of your questions. Please call for an appointment to view our photography, we have several albums showing samples of our work, from complete Proof Albums, Parent Albums, to full Wedding Albums.

We can also show you a demo wedding video, and or a Video Reflection, projected like it would be at your reception on a full 10 foot diagonal screen! If you are planning to have a friend or relative shoot your video and do not think you want a professional video and have not seen a high quality professional video, we would encourage you keep an open mind, and to view our video. Many of our past customers did not think they would be interested in professional video until they saw our demo.
